Save Fern Gully Forest

$120,000 RAISED OF $175,000 GOAL

We’re so close to our goal to SAVE ALL of Fern Gully Forest! With the support of the community, other local organizations, and forest school families we've been making steady progress on our goal for three years!

However, in May 2024, the development company raised the price and listed the Big Cedar Grove properties for sale on the global market!

We've since reached $120,000 in donations and pledges! BIG THANKS to our community for stepping up in the final hour! To meet these new challenges, we’ve set up for a FINAL PUSH.

PLEASE HELP SAVE THIS BELOVED FOREST! You can be the change by sharing the news and giving what you can today. Even a little can MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE.

In addition to donations and big pledges, there's more good news! We are also getting a loan from the WA Community Reinvestment Association to purchase the neighbor's house, create the Community Nature Center, and protect 2.5 more acres of the forest with the creek access and to be able to serve more low-income and marginalized members of the community.

This 'small but mighty' urban forest not only provides vital habitat for wildlife and ecosystem services, it is a sanctuary in the city that is home to outdoor education programs for children and  families. Sadly, the remaining forests in this watershed are rapidly being destroyed.

THE VISION is to conserve the forest for vital wildlife habitat, for the services and medicine these ecosystems provide, and especially FOR CHILDREN and families to enjoy the beauty and benefits of nature.

With your help, we can reach this goal and continue the work to protect more of this beloved forest, cultivate community gardens and a culture of kindness with outdoor education programs that develop a lifelong connection and care for others and the environment for a BRIGHTER FUTURE.

Please help if you can. Every donation counts.

Protect

Mission 1

Conserve the acre of urban forest that is the most vulnerable to development. With your help, we are raising the funds necessary to purchase and protect the forest from development by putting it into conservation for the wildlife, the community, the children, and the future.

Educate

Mission 2

Our community forests provide sanctuaries for wildlife and people, and a place for outdoor education and service learning opportunities. We create spaces where youth and people of all incomes can connect with the wisdom and medicine in nature, explore and  enjoy the beauty, and increase environmental awareness and community resiliency.

Collaborate

Mission 3

In collaboration with communities, businesses, organizations, and other nonprofits, we work to provide equal access to community forests and outdoor education, create community gardens, and plan fundraising events with environmentally conscious teachings and regenerative practices for a better tomorrow.
